Notes concerning the Mensa Card (refectory chip card)

What is the MensaCard?

The MensaCard is a cashless means of payment in all institutes of the Studentenwerk. It contains a quick contactless Mifare-Chip. You can pay cashless in all refectories and cafeterias of the Studentenwerk with the MensCard.

Which advantages do I have?

• The payment process is cut down at the cash desk. With the MensaCard it lasts ca. 2 sec., with cash it lasts ca. 30 sec.
• You have less coins.

Who gets the MensaCard?

• students of the universities and collges of higher education which are counselled by the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen,
• employees of the Studentenwerk, universities and colleges of higher education,
• guests

Where can I get the MensaCard?

You can buy the MensaCard at the cash desks in the refectories.

What does the MensaCard cost?

The MensaCard is selled with 5,00 € deposit. You can upvalue the card during purchase at the cash desk or through the machine for cash and you can kick off right away with the shopping.

How and where can the MensaCard be upvalued?

You can upvalue your card with cash at the cash desks of the refectories and cafeterias and at the machines. During recharge at the machines you get an additional 5 % Bonus.
The minimum recharge amount is 5 €. The maximum amount is limited to 60 € plus bonus.

How do I pay with the MensaCard?

Place the MensaCard with any side on the pay machine at the cash desk and in a few seconds the amount is written off.
Take you card and keep the card safe for damage.

What happens in case of loss of the MensaCard?

You can receive a new MensaCard through the same condition as the last one.

What happens in case of return of the MensaCard?

In case of return of the MensaCard the deposit of 5 € is refunded. Requirement is that the card is undamaged. In any case 20 € at most are refunded. The 5% bonus on the card during the recharging at the machines, is not refunded.

Should I write my name on the MensaCard?

No, the card can be indentified if you have written down the number on the card in case you loose it. With this number the lost card can be found if the card was handed in at the cash desk. If you write something on your card you risk your deposit. The deposit is only refunded for undamaged cards.
