Who are we?
The Counselling Centre is part of the Student Council in Clausthal. It is devided into two areas: social and legal counselling (SSB) and counselling of acute psychological problems (PSB). Two permanent employees and they are helped by international tutors.
Who can come to us?
Every student and member of the Technical University of Clausthal can seek counselling. The easiest is to call or e-mail the Counselling Centre to make an appointment. After an initial consultation, we will decide together how the counselling should progress. The length and the intensity of the consultations depends on the needs of the individual client.
And why do we do this?
If you have problems during your studies, we feel it is important to provide free assistance and concrete help in a confidential and professional environment.
A new view
The road of life isn’t normally a wide, straight road, it is rather a curving path through a difficult terrain.
That’s why in daily life and during your studies, it’s easy to become disoriented, and you ask yourself questions like:
Where am I?
Am I doing what I want to do?
What will happen if I stay along this course?
Feeling like you have problems that you can’t speak with anyone about, and the fear of appearing weak and helpless can lead to isolation, can strengthen the feelings of insecurity and doubt, and will have a negative effect on your studies.
If you feel like you may have such a crisis, our Counselling Centre can be contacted anytime for services. It’s important to us, that we find an individual solution to your problem(s).

This offer is adressed to students, whose number of semesters is double-digit and who are ready to deal with the problem.

Women’s talk round INTERNATIONAL
Every 2nd week can students from national and internationl countries come together to a talk round. The topics are open and conform with the needs of the women.
date: Each 2nd and 4th Thursday in the semester, 6.30 – 8 pm

Weekend workshop “relationships”
The topic relationship accompanies us all our life, from kindergarden to death and calls for new quarrell again and again. On this weekend, we want to experience, uncover and discuss the variety of relationships. Openness and personal work is basic requirement for this weekend.

Loans
The Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen administers a loan fund. From this fund are short and midterm loans given. The shorttem loan is used for bridging over acute financial problems. It is given once with 600 €. The back payment has to take place 2 months after the once payment.
The midterm loan is given as loans to the end of studies. The loan is payed in six equally high monthly rates à max. 500,00 €. A certification of the university has to be shown that the study ends in 6 months. The back payment has to follow 12 months after the last rate at the latest.
The shortterm loan is without interest; the midterm loan is in the payment period without interest. Afterwards brings the payment 2% interest.
Both loans have to be ensured by a valid certificate of bond. A certificate of enrolment, valid IDs have to be shown by the borrower and warrantor and also a salary statement (of the warrantor) of the last month has to be shown. An administration fee of 2% of the loan is charged.

Furthermore exists an aid fund of the Verfassten Studierendenschaft.
