Culture bureau

Welcome to the site of the Culture bureau Hildesheim!

The Culture bureau of the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen is available for all students in Hildesheim as a contact person for questions concerning art and culture.

With our work we want to permit you an active and creative engagement as a balance and free time to study or as a start into a professional career.

Our service offer includes among other things the organisation of events and exhibitions, the event series ecco! and Hobo-Jazzsession, which gives opportunities for young artists of different genres to perform and the counselling and sponsoring of culture projects and initiatives of students.

Besides the Culture buro publishes each semester the magazine “Kultur pur”, offers courses and workshops, aids young artists through procuration and manages competitions.

The cultural aid of students is in Lower Saxony and in any other Bundesland legally specified as a task of the Studentenwerk. Since 1995 is the Culture buro Hildesheim available for all students as a continous and professional contact point for questions concerning art and cultur and as the case may be to cultural aid.
Our primar aim in our work is to make an active creative engagement in free time or as a completion to study, for all students available – independently from study -
The contents our offer orientate themselves to the needs and wishes of students. Culture within students is characterized through spotaniety and variety. Therefore the Culture buro arranges its program each semester new in cooperation with students groups, initiatives, university institutes and other culture responsibles. This means that development has to be felt, tedencies have to be noticed and often new ways of realisation have to take place.

Cultural activities offers a chance to widen one’s individual horizons and to link to an interdisciplinary network. Study and university wide and intercultural projects develope the exchange between students of different faculties, universities and cultures and the cognition of the university through the citizens of Hildesheim with their study location. Creative work in cultural projects contribute to the active shaping of the living space university.

The cooperation with other cultural offers and other institutes in the city Hildesheim create additional possibities, to present a wider cultur engagement of students to the public.

Culture bureau e-mail distributor

Through the e-mail distributor (see above) you can be informed regulary about events of the Culture bureau or you can inform all members in the distributor with materials.
You organisate events and want to inform the world about it?
You look for participants of projects, participants for a workshop or want to contact other artists? You’re looking got a job placement in the field of culture, know a job placement or have an attractive job offer?

Service

We assist your creativity with a wide and various spectrum:

Exhibitions of nude painting via graphic art and glas work to drawings
You work in the field of fine arts and you want to present your works to the public? We help you with the development of the exhibition concept, room plans, press and public work, financing and realization of exhibitions and vernisage.
Besides we can offer you a galery of the Studentenwerk and the right equipment (frames, hanging systems).

Coaching for culture groups and artists
You want perform an artist/cultural project or manage an event? We help you with the realization of your plan.

The Culture buro helps with topics like concept development, project management, project financing or sponsoring. Besides we help with e.x. with the organisation and performance or with the press and public work and aids with your plan financially.

Culture magazine “Kultur pur”
The culture magazine “Kultur pur” offers a forum for all interested for the presentation of cultural projects, concepts and initiatives. Besides we inform your about events and the course and workshop program of the Culture buro for the current semester. “Kultur pur” is available at our central location in the university and HAWK, in the institutes of the Studentenwerk, in the KulturFabrik, in various shops, cafées, bars or directly in the counselling centre in the Wallstraße 3-5.

Artist procuration, contacts and meeting for person engaged in the cultural sector
You are an artist and look for an open mike? You look for contacts to other artists for cooperational projects?

Courses and workshops
The changing, wide and various course and workshop offers in the field of music, photography, fine arts, handcraft, literature, dance, theatre, media and body offer you a balance and valuable completion to study and profession and invites you to do someting totally new in creative atmosphere, deepen approved stuff and get to know interesting people.

Event series (Hobo-Jazzsession, ecco – THE event series by students)
The event series of the Cultural buro offer the possibility to all culture groups of any kind, to present their prgrams, projects or concepts to the public. With that we want create a platform for the initiatives of Hildesheim and their creative potential to realize their own performance. The Hobo-Jazz session takes place in cooperation with the KulturFabrik Löseke, ecco- the students event serie takes place in cooperation with the AStA of the University Hildesheim and the KulturFabrik Löseke.

Subject and university independent art projects, events photo and design competitions

Another aim of the cultural work of the Studentenwerk is to encourage subject and university independent cooperations. Therefore the Culture buro iniiates and organisates projects and events to encourage the exchange of students of the University Hildesheim and the HAWK with citizens of the city. Beside music, literature, film, theatre and dance the Culture buro organisates e.g. subject dependent photo or design competitions. Please note the current announcements!

FAQ

Who can adress to the Culture buro?

The Culture buro Hildesheim is contact person for Hildesheim students, no matter of University or HAWK, no matter if you attend artistic courses or not.
Naturally we support cooperational projects with students of other universities, professional artist or non-student in so far they enrich the culture life of Hildesheim.

Which projects are supported?

The Culture buro support all student projects of Hildesheim students, in so far they don’t take part in course of the University.
An application form for financial aid can be filled out by any Hildesheim student.

What isn’t been supported by the Culture buro?

Unfortunately we can not support financially the realization of term papers of University or HAWK. We’re still available for those projects to help.
A support of the Culture buro isn’t granted for commercial events or non-student projects.

Which kind of support can be expected by the Culture buro?

The Culture buro counsels and helps you with planning, organisation and realization of projects, exhibitions and events. We support you with press and public work, provide equipment (e.g. for exhibitions), besides you can use the Culture buro as a “Backoffice” (copying, telephoning, sending etc.) for your projects. A financial support is possible. The maximum fund per project is 150E.
Through our artist file you can contact others. In case of events which are processed by us, we can recommend registred artists through us.
Each semester you can use the culture magazin, Kultur pur, to present cultural/artistic projects and iniitatives or to announce current productions and events.

How can I place an application for financial aid?

If you want to apply for financial aid, it’s important that you make sure that your files are here at least 6 weeks before the event.
The application forms should at least be out of a cover letter to the Culture buro, a wish for financial aid, a description of your project, some data of participants and a cost and financial plan. A sample application form you be found here.

How often can I apply for financial aid?

For each iniitative/project can only once per calendar year be applied for financial aid. Beyond we support you in another form with your project.
If you participate in various projects you can apply for financial aid as much as your projects are eventhough the applicant is the same.
