For decades 6-7 % of all students have children, who have to be integrated in student life. For this reason, the Studentenwerk runs 2 kindergardens of mixed age groups and day care places.
The children of students have priority over the kindergarden places. An extension of normal morning child care times meets the needs of our students. The standard of care is exceptional. The task of elementary education is fullfilled with sport, open play, making and painting and much more, to enhance development in all areas.

Kita “Die Strolche”
- The Strolche is a special day care group. In all old rooms with typical Lüneburg “clinker flair” experience children in diapers together with pre school children part of the day. Connected to the residential accommodation area Salzbrücker Straße lays the day care centre centrally in the heart of Lüneburg.
- The children learn much from eachother while playing, climbing, music, eating and relaxing, make day trips and much more. The younger children learn from the older children and that improves “learning through teaching” their self-value esteem.
- Friday is our forest day. On this day we want to experience nature in “our” forest (Bockelsberg).
- Parents can visit monthly a parents evening, make contacts in “the parent-café” or can participate together on an afternoon for parents and children.

Predominantly children which parents study at the university Lüneburg, can. 30% children of non-student parents.

Ground floor of the house “Alter Handelshof”: group room, movement room, kitchen, bathroom with changing table.

18 children from 1 – 6 years.
Kita “Campus”
- Our group devision in the kindergarden group “Tiger” and the day care centre “Mäuse” is party open. Each group has an own group room and special, according to the age of the children projects and also group comprehensive offers. All children eat breakfast and eat lunch in the group rooms.
- The educators help the kids in their autonomy, contact with each other, verbal and non-verbal, creativity, in their urge to move, exploration of environment and nature, experiences, showing and understanding of feelings, noticing of cultural offers.
- Our offers: In free play the children have the free choice of partner, variety of plays, lenght of the plays and the place of plays. Flowing breakfast means to eat whenever you’re hungry, in comfort atmosphere with friends, the lenght can be decided for yourself, free choice of drinks, biological fruits and vegetables. Hall of movement, technical room, ball bath and splash corner can always be entered. In any weather can be played in the garden. Visits to other institutes such like university, library, theatre etc. are very important to us. We manage projects to topics like art in children’s hands, forest, I’m who I’m, learning workshop and “from big becomes small”. We “celebrate birthdays together”, feasts during the year (Easter, Christmas, spring fest etc.), goodbye as the case may be school begin.
- Our parental work is realized by: meetings with parents, parent evenings, cooperation with parents’ association, parentcafé corner, feasts and trips together with the children.
