Loans

The Studentenwerk administers student credit funds. These funds can cover short- to mid-term credits. The short-term credit serves to bridge acute financial problems. A one off credit of a maximum of 600 € can be granted. The sum must be repaid within two months.
Mid-term credit aids students in the final stages of their studies. The sum is paid in six equal monthly payments at a maximum of 500 €. For this a certificate must be submitted, proving that the student’s studies will be concluded within six months. The credit must be repaid after 12 months at the latest.
The short-term credit is free of interest, as is the mid-term loan during the payment period. Subsequently the rate of interest is 2%. Both credits require a co-signatory to warrant repayment. When applying for a credit a valid student ID is required as is valid identification of the applicant and the co-signatory and the previous month’s wage slip of the co-signatory. An administration fee of 2% is charged. Further information can be obtained from the social advisory office of the Studentenwerk.
